Today was an exciting, as well as busy, day as we learned so much more about healthcare careers and gained new skill certifications! After we learned more about the Tier 2 interns through a fun guessing game, we headed to CPR training and certification. Part of me actually remembers learning EMT skills in tier one from my CPR instructor, which truly felt like a full circle moment! At first, I was nervous that I wasn't good enough or I completing the procedure wrong, but my instructor gave me reassurance that I was actually doing it right, which increased my confidence! What surprised me the most was that my instructor mentioned that I seemed to be proficient at giving breaths with the masks! I realized through this certification process that I truly need to find a way to lower my stress levels through believing that I CAN do anything, rather than having doubt in myself! Many times, I feel imposter syndrome, almost like I'm not good enough for the medical field. However, if I am going to even have a chance of doing well in medicine, I will have to push aside these doubts in order to work under the pressure a career in medicine entails.

It is very rewarding to know that I now have the tools at my disposal to save a life. I actually learned even more about special details and tricks in order to provide the best CPR and BLS possible from our instructor compared to last tier. He also treated this skill and the situations it is used in very seriously, which I very much appreciated as it will be useful in possible future certifications!

After lunch, we heard information about the OR and what makes it special from nurse Kate Elord. You could tell she was truly passionate about her work, and she explained the instructions we would need for finding the OR rooms in a concise and specific way to where I was less anxious about it. However, when she mentioned that it is an honor to serve patients at their most vulnerable state, it truly spoke to me. No matter how strong someone can seem on the outside, they are extremely fragile when they are under anesthesia. Having a person's trust has always been something that I highly value, and I imagine not breaking it by having a successful surgery can be the most rewarding experience.

Lastly, we were able to hear about Ms. Cassandra's medical journey, which was very inspiring! I couldn't believe all that she had done to make the medical system better through organizations like the CCC for criminals! I can only hope to have just as much of an impact as she does in the future!

Finally, we ended the day with fun icebreaker where we recreated different paintings in a group. I felt as though I got closer to some tier members that I wasn't as close to previosuly. We even won one of the rounds!
